The mission of City in Motion is to develop and maintain a regional center for modern dance in Kansas City. Our School of Dance offers classes in modern, ballet, jazz and improvisational dance forms, providing training and creative outlet for both children and adults. We also offer a variety of workshops each school session.

Our Performance Series provides a showcase for dance. Area choreographers are given the opportunity to develop new dance pieces, local dancers are given the opportunity to perform and audiences are given the opportunity to experience dance. This Performance Series works hand-in-hand with our school curriculum. Experienced performers and choreographers teach classes at our school and the performances introduce new students to our school.

Because of continuous support from dedicated individuals, we have already raised a generation of dancers; many of which were able to study dance only because of our scholarship fund. School-age children have already experienced the joy of moving with City in Motion Dance Company performing under the auspices of Young Audiences, all across the metro area.

City in Motion has set a goal of raising $100,000 to create capital improvements to the building. These improvements will enhance our School of Dance and enable us to further develop our Performance Series. You can help to make this vision a reality. By contributing to one of the below listed funds you can help us realize this dream. City in Motion Dance Theater, Inc. is a publicly supported 501(c)(3) organization, tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service. Accordingly, contributions made to City in Motion Dance Theater are deductible for federal income tax purposes.

* Capital Improvements

Contributions to this fund will go to creating these improvements: ADA access, air conditioning, renovations to the dance studios, theater space and bathroom facilities.

* School/ Scholarship Fund

Contributions to this fund will aid these programs: School of Dance, Disadvantaged Children's Scholarship Fund, Summer Dance Camp, Dance Workshop and the Children's Dance Theater.

* Performance Fund

Contributions to this fund will support these performances New Dance Series, Spotlight on Culture, Dance in the Park Festival and the City in Motion Dance Company.

* Friends in Motion
