City in Motion Dance Theater, Inc. announces its Children’s Dance Theater performance, to be presented on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 3:00 PM at the Penn Valley Community College Theater.

The concert will feature two premieres choreographed specifically for the Children’s Dance Theater by Andrea Skowronek entitled “Bouzouki Boogie” and “Slip Jig Waltz.” An improvisational piece entitled “Me, Myself and I” will feature movement motifs choreographed by the children, with a structure by Andrea Skowronek. Penelope Hearne will premiere two pieces entitled “Kool-Aid” and “The Little Prince.”

City in Motion School of Dance faculty members Lillian Francis, Ann Shaughnessy, Stephanie Whittler, and Amanda January will have choreography presented in the concert. Three pieces choreographed by Children’s Dance Theater members will also be featured.

Tickets for the concert are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors and are available at the door. Penn Valley Community College is located at 3201 SW Trafficway

The Children’s Dance Theater provides an opportunity for students at the City in Motion School of Dance to work on pieces of artistic merit under the direction of professional choreographers. The Children’s Dance Theater is currently made up of 19 members between the ages of 8 – 16 who pursue training in modern, ballet, jazz and improvisation. The Children’s Dance Theater is under the direction of Andrea Skowronek, artistic co-director of City in Motion Dance Theater.
