Modern Technique Instructor
Kyle Mullins most recently earned his Master of Fine Arts in Dance on a Dean’s Fellowship from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Born and raised in Overland Park, KS, he earned his BFA in Dance at the University of Arizona. While studying in Arizona he was awarded a summer scholarship to Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Lou Conte’s (studying with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago) and a summer apprenticeship to River North Jazz Dance Chicago.
Since relocating to New York, he has had the pleasure to dance with the Steps Repertory Ensemble, dre.dance, Nicholas Andre Dance, Bill Young/Colleen Thomas and Dancers, The Chase Brock Experience, and York Dance Works. He has worked with Donald Byrd, Benoit-Swan Pouffer, Nathan Trice, Cherice Barton, Andrea Miller, Sean Curran, Camille A. Brown, Aszure Barton, Larry Keigwin, Shannon Gillen, Zvi Gotheiner, Gregory Dolbashian, Mindy Upin, Elizabeth Coker, Gregory Dolbashian, and Crystal Pite. He has performed at Dixon Place, Danspace, the Joyce Theater, and on several Broadway stages for BC/EFA events. He has performed for Kansas City Starlight in “The Music Man”, for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and on "One Life to Live”. Since moving back to Kansas City he has been performing with Wylliams Henry Contemporary Dance Company.
As a choreographer, he has most notably choreographed the Off Broadway production of “Triassic Parq: The Musical”, for which he was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Choreography. He has shown work at Steps on Broadway, BC Beat, Triskelion Arts, and the Jack Crystal Theater. He has choreographed several musicals for the New York Fringe Festival, Capital Fringe Festival (DC) and Vital Theater Company (NYC).
Kyle currently teaches with the Kansas City Ballet's R.O.A.D. Program, at Miller Marley School of Dance and Voice, and at Empire Dance Academy. In NYC, he teaches at Steps on Broadway, Gibney Dance. He also teaches dance outreach with the Hudson Guild in NYC, a continuing outreach program he co-founded, and has worked with children in Cape Town, South Africa.
