About The Event
City in Motion Dance Theater presents the twenty-second annual “Modern Night” on Saturday, February 14, at 7:30pm at the historic Gem Theater (1615 E 18th St, KCMO, 64108). Kansas City’s premier adjudicated choreographer’s showcase celebrates contemporary and modern dance works from the region’s most talented choreographers. Co-Artistic Director, Roberta Foudree, will be presenting work on behalf of City in Motion and will be joined by the following selected choreographers: Laura Behm, Olivia Emert, Jenifer Owen, Haley Kostas, Miana Abramson, William Brighton, Catherine Hayward, Shelbi West, and Jessica Lueck.
Founded in 2024, The Young Choreographer’s Showcase will return on-stage at “Modern Night.” This program offers students, ages 15-21, the opportunity to take a choreography workshop with Kansas City professionals, providing them with education on choreographic methods and mentorship throughout their creative processes.
