The City in Motion Youth (CIMY) company provides quality instruction by professional instructors and Artistic Directors, and an opportunity for young dancers to experience teamwork, collaboration and leadership.

CITY IN MOTION YOUTH

Express Yourself! Experience dance as an art form. Find a creative outlet through dance. Work with local and regional professional choreographers on performance pieces of artistic merit.

City in Motion Youth (CIMY) Dance Company is a non-competition dance performance group that meets as a class weekly on Saturdays from 12:30-1:30 to learn dances from various choreographers and develop performance skills, with multiple performance opportunities.

No audition is required -- any student age 7-15 is accepted, which reflects the vision that dance is for everyBODY. Dancers will be grouped within the class according to skill level and/or age.

The full season includes a performance at Dance in the Park on September 12th, 2026 (for those pre-registered by August 16th) and the annual CIMY Recital which is tentatively planned for May 22nd 2027, as well as smaller performance opportunities in the community such as at local festivals and neighborhood events, including the KCK Third Friday ArtWalk in the Fall of 2026 and/or the Spring of 2027.
Any CIMY enrollee who is also enrolled in at least one other class at City in Motion will receive 50% off. For information on additional classes please go to the school website at www.cityinmotion.org/school.

Scholarship Info: City in Motion believes in dance for everyBODY! Therefore, if a family has a financial barrier, there are scholarship and fundraising opportunities to supplement that student's tuition. Scholarships are available as follows:

Full Scholarship: Full Scholarship: Covers 100% of the CIMY class tuition starting with your first class (up to $555).
Half Scholarship: Covers 50% of the CIMY class tuition starting with your first class (up to $278). Since our full class tuition is pro-rated for the remainder of the season starting with the date of your first class, you may want to begin the enrollment process to find out how much the remainder will cost. ***To qualify for a scholarship the student is required to attend all classes with the exception of two per semester. ***

Scholarship Application

Attire: Acceptable attire is any type of dance wear or comfortable clothing that is not too baggy and not too restrictive. If wearing tights/leggings they must be the footless style. They will dance barefoot for most dances but they may also wear socks or ballet/jazz shoes.
